After another successful Parks Uncorked event and with the addition of some private contributions, the Medford Parks and Recreation Foundation presented the City of Medford a $20,000 check to benefit the Play Every Day Scholarship fund, during the August city council meeting.

Joe Brett (outgoing Foundation President), shared that “the Play Every Day Scholarship fund, established in 2006, has provided opportunities for youth to attend recreational and enrichment programs offered by the Medford Parks and Recreation Department. Since it’s inception, this fund as provided over $197,000 in scholarship activities for programs such as;  day camps, swimming lessons and many youth sports programs.”

Incoming Foundation President, Raul Woerner, shared that “the foundation enjoys its role in promoting and advocating the value of stewardship, the communal use of Medford parks, and helping to create and develop recreation facilities and programs.  One of the highlights this past seasons was the foundation’s role in helping to raise the necessary funding to complete the new Olsrud Family Community Playground.”

The Medford Parks and Recreation continues to be an integral part of ensuring that the City of Medford is an amazing place to Live, Work and Play!
