Annual Parks Uncorked Fundraising Event:

The Medford Parks & Recreation Foundation and Medford Rogue Rotary Club are proud to host a worthy event for its upcoming ninth edition. Parks Uncorked will provide an evening of wine tasting, food and music in an effort to raise funds and awareness of the Medford Parks & Recreation Foundation as well as the Medford Rogue Rotary Club. Funds raised for this event will be used to provide scholarships for youth who wish to participate in Parks & Recreation programming as well as academic scholarships offered by Medford Rogue Rotary.

The 2017 event will feature; local wineries from the Bear Creek Wine Trail with tasting from their selected inventories, catered hors d'oeuvres, live entertainment and both an oral and a silent auction.

About Parks Uncorked:

The Medford Parks and Recreation Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c) (3), was established in 2005. The Foundation was looking to create a signature event that would raise awareness and funds for the organization and the Play Every Day Scholarship Fund.

Parks Uncorked was developed by Shelyea Erlan and Brian Sjothun. Event planning began in November 2007 and the first ever Parks Uncorked took place in March 2008. This event featured just three wineries with approximately 60 people in attendance. Held at the Carnegie Building and sponsored by ORW Architecture and Premier West Bank, the 2008 event raised $1,085.

In 2009, the event was moved to the Santo Community Center and in 2013 U.S. Cellular Community Park became the venue.

  • 2009 - $6,000 raised – 145 in attendance
  • 2010 - $9,500 raised – 206 in attendance
  • 2011 - $12,500 raised – 212 in attendance
  • 2013 - $24,000 raised – 310 in attendance
  • 2014 - $25,000 raised – 300 in attendance
  • 2015 - $24,000 raised – 300 in attendance
  • 2016 - $20,500 raised – 280 in attendance

The event was previously held in late October, however many of the wineries requested a move to the spring or early summer in order to avoid the harvest/crush season that takes place in the fall. The Foundation Board made a decision to not host an event in 2012 and move future events to either late spring or early summer.

Since the inception of the event, Parks Uncorked has provided $121,000 to the Play Every Day Scholarship Fund, providing over 1,500 children with recreational opportunities offered by the Parks & Recreation
